It is the Foundation’s job, as the Commonwealth’s agency for civil society, to ensure the voices of the people are heard by Commonwealth leaders on the issues that matter most. Democracy is not having a vote; it’s having a voice, too.

The Foundation recently commissioned a video performance from Rwandan activist, poet and singer Malaika Uwamahoro.

Democracy is not just having a vote; it‘s having a voice, too!

Malaika’s performance celebrates our common humanity and the values we share as citizens of the Commonwealth—of democracy, peace, and justice—which can help us move towards a better future for all. Malaika encourages us all to raise our voices for change.
