Following is an advertisement just placed on the Facebook group ‘Beta Readers’.

If there’s anyone else out there who would like to help out, I would be forever grateful.

Just let me know in the comment section below.

Thank you so much!

Wanted Beta Readers!

Kia ora, everyone! I’m a shortlisted author seeking 3–5 beta readers who enjoy quirky, character-driven contemporary fiction with a bit of dark humour. The M.S. currently sits at 50,000 words, and I have just completed its second draft.

The story is set in New Zealand and follows Gus, a flawed but well-meaning young man stumbling through grief, family chaos, and some unexpectedly odd moments life throws his way.

Content Warnings (please read before volunteering):

domestic violence themes (3/10 graphic, but present)
low-level sex scenes (3/10 very brief and not too explicit)

What I’m hoping for:

• honest reader reactions
• what made you laugh, what didn’t (maybe what made you cringe?)
• pacing—where it dragged or rushed
• clarity of character motivations
• emotional beats that hit (or missed)

Not needed right now:
• grammar or line edits

Timeframe: ideally 2–4 weeks, but I’m flexible (I appreciate it’s a challenging and busy time of year).

If you’re interested, please comment or message me.

Ngā mihi

Roly
